What's new at Sion this season

To all Sion players and families: registration for the new season is now open. Here is what changes this year, and how every player can earn a place at the next level.

    Registration and payment

    • Registration is open to all Sion players.
    • Registration details are available on sionfootballacademy.pro.

    Spanish football methodology

    • Our training is based on Spanish football methodology.
    • Sessions are delivered by our CAF-licensed coaches across every branch.

    The new Sion Elite U17 team

    Last season

    Training in Group A and Group B only.

    This season

    One elite team, selected from every branch.

    • One elite team, open to players aged 14 to 16, selected from all five branches during the season by our scouts and coaches.
    • The elite team trains three times a week and competes in local leagues and tournaments.
    • Every elite player receives 1 game jersey and 2 training jerseys.
    • A place on the elite team is earned on the pitch, not paid for. All players pay the same term fee.

    Player performance profile, every two months

    • Every elite player receives a professional written report every two months.
    • Players are scored in four areas — technical, tactical, physical and mental — with an overall performance score.
    • Each report shows the player's strengths and clear development priorities.

    More scouts, trials and tournaments

    One scouting event.

    This season

    More than two scouting events planned.

    • We aim to hold more than two scouting events this season, bringing more scouts to watch our players.
    • The academy plans to take part in international tournaments.
    • Individual trials with RC Celta de Vigo, Girona FC and Deportivo Alavés.
    • Your reports decide your trial. Players are chosen on their level and their progress across reports, and trial places are limited.

    TRINIDAD III personal training

    • Our small-group personal training program, with a maximum of 6 players per group.
    • By invitation only. Recommended players receive a personal registration code from the academy.

The Sion Promise

Every elite player, both parents and the academy sign a shared commitment.

Sion Academy promises to

  • Train you like a professional, three sessions a week, with qualified coaches
  • Give you an honest written report every two months
  • Put you in front of scouts and real competition, at home and abroad, when you earn it
  • Guide your family honestly at every step toward the professional game

The player promises to

  • Arrive on time and give full effort in every session and match
  • Respect coaches, teammates, opponents and referees
  • Keep up with school
  • Represent Sion and Ethiopia with pride, on and off the pitch

The parents promise to

  • Support their son's training, rest and education
  • Talk openly with the academy about his progress and wellbeing
